Welichem Appoints Business Development Manager

BURNABY, BC, July 16 /CNW/ - Welichem Biotech Inc. ("WBI" or the "Company") (TSX-V: WBI - News) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Yan Chen as Business Development Manager.

York Yingping Guo, President and CEO of Welichem, noted that "With her PhD and MBA degrees, and her related experience, Dr. Chen brings enormous resources to our business development activities. As senior management focuses more of its efforts on implementing the Company's immediate strategic funding and research objectives, Dr. Chen will help shorten the time needed to reach our ambitious goals. We are delighted that she has chosen to join Welichem."

After growing up in China, Dr. Chen obtained her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Kentucky. She went on to receive an MBA from Queen's University. Dr. Chen has more than ten years of R&D experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and has been involved in clinical trials associated with multinational biotech corporations. Dr. Chen was co-author of successful multimillion-dollar grant applications. She has specialized in stem cell research with first-author publications. Selected as a Forté Fellow, Dr. Chen specialized in Entrepreneurship at Queen's University, where she provided recommendations for investment decisions based on market research and due diligence analysis for Tricolour Venture Fund.

At Welichem, Dr. Chen will work closely with senior management to develop and execute the Company's strategic business plan, coordinate internal and external communications, and explore new opportunities with a global perspective.
